Where is Restube developed and produced?

The idea for Restube came to founder Christopher Fuhrhop after a critical situation in the water. From the University of Karlsruhe (KIT), he developed the idea to a prototype and piece by piece, his own production was built up in cooperation with experienced production partners in Karlsruhe. Function and highest quality are decisive factors without losing sight of sustainability.

Why is Restube not "Personal Protective Equipment" (PPE)?

The basic requirement for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is: the product offers protection against the danger (in this case: protection against drowning) by putting it on alone. Restube was not developed for this purpose, but for very different application scenarios. Restube requires an additional action by the user, who has to lean over the buoy. This is why Restube does not fall under the EU Directive 89/686/EEC (Directive on Personal Protective Equipment).

Restube cannot be approved as a lifejacket because it is by definition not PPE. However, Restube was never intended to be a lifejacket, but rather to be used wherever more freedom and other forms of buoyancy are needed. Our system meets the highest quality standards and enables completely new fields of application.

At first glance, it seems strange that a product like Restube does not fit into the norm. On the other hand, it is clear that real great innovations are not yet captured in a standard. What few people know is that there are many products that do not fit into a standard either, but still bring great benefits: For example, rescue harnesses or rescue buoys for water rescue or avalanche backpacks until 2019. For avalanche backpacks, a separate standard was only developed by the avalanche backpack companies together with the standards committees after more than 25 years on the market.

Is Restube a substitute for a lifejacket?

No, it is not a replacement. But Restube is the most versatile system for more safety in the water. If you need an approved swimming aid in the form of a waistcoat, for example for stand-up paddling in Switzerland, you can use the pfd by RESTUBE. In any case, always follow the local rules, safety concerns us all!

What is the function of the green clip on Restube automatic?

The green clip is used to make it visible that a newCO2 cartridge has been screwed in. If Restube automatic is triggered, the clip falls off and into the water, revealing a red spot. The clip has an indicative character and has no technical function. Its absence therefore does not affect the function of Restube automatic. If new green clips are needed, they can be requested at professional@restube.eu.

Can Restube be used more than once?

Yes, by replacing theCO2 cartridge, Restube is immediately ready for use again. The sales package contains Restube with a matchingCO2 cartridge already screwed in. After use, Restube is very easy to get ready for use again: Deflate, insert a new gas cartridge, fold the buoyancy chamber according to the printed instructions and stow the whole thing in the bag!

How important is it to use the original RestubeCO2 cartridges?

Only the original RESTUBECO2 cartridges are 1.) 100% quality-tested, 2.) seawater-proof, 3.) fill level tested and 4.) the necessary release force is adapted to the release mechanism. The cartridges comply with the standard for lifejackets DIN EN ISO 12402-7. If other cartridges are used, it cannot be guaranteed that Restube will fill without problems in an emergency and the trigger may be damaged.

What is the shelf life of the original RestubeCO2 cartridges?

5 years from purchase.

How is the air tightness of the buoyancy chamber checked?

Leave the completely inflated buoyancy chamber in a place with a constant temperature for 24 hours. If it loses a lot of air during this time, the product must be replaced. NOTE: PureCO2 diffuses slowly through the buoyancy chamber material. Therefore, it is normal for the buoyancy chamber filled with pureCO2 from the cartridge to slowly deflate over 15-30 hours.

Lifetime and storability

RESTUBE products are designed for a long service life and, depending on the version, for 50 to 250(*) releases. Store Restube outside the packaging, well ventilated and at max. 28°C. Maximum service life is 5 years from purchase, provided care & maintenance instructions are followed.

Frequent use (more than once a week) and use in tropical climates may shorten the life accordingly. Restube should be removed from the carton in high humidity. Do not place RESTUBE products on the heater and do not dry or store in direct sunlight.

Care

Every RESTUBE product should be cared for after each wear. To do this, remove the buoyancy chamber from the bag and inspect all parts for external damage: Bag, buoyancy chamber, trigger, trigger line andCO2 cartridge. All components should not show heavy signs of use or rust or be damaged.

When used in and around salt or chlorinated water, rinse the removed buoyancy body and bag well with clear water with the mouth valve closed and the cartridge screwed in. If heavily soiled, clean with mild detergent or weak lye and rinse with clear water. Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol or solvents. The buoyancy chamber and bag are dried hanging open. The system must then be dried and repacked according to the instructions for use.

Maintenance

The control of the system must be implemented after each use and / or annually. The check can be carried out by a technically experienced employee of the organization according to the instructions for use and without special tools. It is also possible to send the products to RESTUBE for inspection for a fee of 15€ per Restube (plus return shipping costs).

Warranty

RESTUBE offers its customers a warranty of three years for all Restubes, which goes beyond the statutory warranty regulations and can be requested via the online form LINK TO PRO WARRANTY EXTENSION PAGE. The RESTUBE warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship and applies to all approved Restubes used privately and professionally. In order to make a claim under the warranty, the customer must complete the relevant online form after purchasing the Restube. In the event of damage, the Restube must be sent at the customer's own expense with a copy of the purchase contract to Restube (address: Restube GmbH, Dieselstraße 1, 76327 Berghausen-Pfinztal).
Warranty decisions and warranty repairs are carried out exclusively by Restube itself. If a warranty case exists, Restube will decide on repair, partial replacement or replacement of the product (possibly against deduction of new for old). The warranty is initially valid for the usual 2 years from the date of purchase of the Restube.

The guarantee doesnot apply in the event of:
normal wear and tear, insufficient maintenance, improper storage, handling or contact with chemicals of any kind, accidents or contact with obstacles, improper handling of the Restube and if the information given in the form proves to be incorrect. Restube will find the best solution for the customer for each individual case and, if necessary, provide further services as a gesture of goodwill.
